4. James Zimmerman Prize (JZP)

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the SQUID, Biomag 2010 is proud
to announce a new award in honor of the late James Zimmerman, co-inventor
of the SQUID.

March 18, 2010 Biomag 2010 announces a new and exciting collaboration with the
International Federation of Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) in instituting
the new James Zimmerman Prize. The IFMBE has agreed to sponsor the award
on a biannual basis at the Biomag conference. The award, to be presented
for the first time in Dubrovnik, will commemorate 40 years of the SQUID, a
celebration of the early pioneering work of James Zimmerman in the
application of SQUID technology. We look forward to working with members
of the IFMBE in acknowledging the contribution of the biomedical
engineering community at large and hope it will encourage new ideas.

The competition is open to postdoctoral fellows, faculty and research scientists.

Application criteria:

  • Ph.D.
  • CV
  • Best novel SQUID application-based and/or multi-modal integration of MEG

**Applicants are free to also apply for a Young Investigator Award, if they meet the criteria.

5. Connectivity Challenge Award (CCA)

The purpose of this award is to encourage the development and validation of innovative methodologies to study structural-functional connectivity patterns underlying human sensory and cognitive processing.

This competition will serve as a first step toward this goal by creating a repository of data, to enable studies of connectivity, that will be freely accessible to all members of the biomag community. The competition is open to all, students, postdoctoral fellows, faculty, research scientists.

In order to participate, all participants will be required to submit a letter of intent by February 15, 2010. The letter should be accompanied by a short abstract describing (a) what the datasets will consist of (b) the paradigm and (c) the hypothesis (one or more) that the datasets will allow one to test. A more detailed version should accompany the final sumbission.
